Next Drupal meetup in Dundee will be a core issue sprint to help Drupal 8 achieve formal release. Learn how to write core Drupal code and how to give back to the community.
Everyone is welcome; if you have built a site in Drupal, you can contribute. For new folks: you can get a head start also by making an account on Drupal.org and taking a look at the Drupal Ladder http://drupalladder.org/
We will have a brief introduction, then split into pairs and work on Drupal core issues. We'll select a variety of issues beforehand - some don't require any coding experience.
- Bring your laptop + PSU.
- If possible, install Git (http://git-scm.com/downloads) before coming
git clone
Drupal 8 core (more info at http://drupalmentoring.org/sprint)- You might find installing an IDE* useful, although most text editors are probably up to the job.
All attendees must sign up so that we can allocate you a wifi account for the day. This will probably be slightly longer meetup than normal, so we'll provide some food and drink (any companies interested in sponsorship, please get in touch with me).
We'll meet in room 2S17 in the Dalhousie Building (http://www.dundee.ac.uk/general/campusguide/virtualtour/dalhousie/) on Tuesday 17th September. The room is available from 6.30 and we'll kick off promptly at 7. We have to vacate the room by 9pm, so we should take any unresolved issues either to the pub (Braes - which has wifi) or home to work on later.

(* IDE: Integrated Development Environment. If you don't have one, Eclipse (https://drupal.org/node/75242 for config info) and Netbeans (https://drupal.org/node/1019816) are pretty popular)
